ABSTRACT

The rapid expansion of Internet gambling over the last decade encouraged researchers to identify features of the online gambling environment that might promote the incidence of gambling problems among users of online gambling services (Wood and Williams, 2007; Griffiths, 2003; Griffiths and Parke, 2010). However, although surveys suggest that the use of Internet gambling services among individuals recruited in student or community health samples tends to be associated with relatively high rates of gambling and problems (Griffiths and Barnes, 2008; Ladd and Petry, 2002; Wood, Griffiths, and Parke, 2007), the extant evidence about problem gambling in users of Internet gambling services remains preliminary and fragmented.
