ABSTRACT
The words I want to stress are memory and desire. The words capture my own mood, wishing to recall what has been done for the Chinese who had left home, and to understand the kinds of desires, dreams, hopes and longings these sojourners had, especially those for security, wealth, and adventure, once they were away from China.
