ABSTRACT

This chapter details two examples of MTSs in business environments. Though both are organizational MTSs, they differ in purpose, configuration, and operation of MTSs, as well as in the fact that one example is intraorganizational whereas the other example is interorganizational. These business examples illuminate the high prevalence of MTSs in today’s workplaces. We describe the purpose and the structural characteristics of the MTSs, illustrate how the MTSs operate and change over time, and then categorize them based on the typology dimensions presented in Chapter 1.
