Sustainability accounting and accountability in the public sector

The agenda for research and practice in sustainability accounting and accountability has been played out in an almost exclusively for-profit, corporate setting. In comparison, the huge potential of the public sector for advancing the agenda is often overlooked. We see a need to rectify this situation, and hope that this chapter will stimulate enthusiasm among practitioners, students and researchers for sustainability accounting and accountability in public sector organizations (PSOs).
