ABSTRACT
Military bands of woodwind, brass, and percussion, played by professionals in uniform, found a peacetime role after Waterloo in parades, street processions, and concerts. Standards of performance were raised after the foundation of the Royal Military School of Music at Kneller Hall (1857).
