GATTY, MARGARET (1809-1873) Margaret Gatty, a naturalist and writer for
children, is now almost forgotten. Her short tales for children are of less significance than her work as founding editor of Aunt Judy's Magazine (1866-1885); her greatest source of contemporary fame was her widely admired Parables from Nature (5 vols., 18551871).
