ABSTRACT
Linton combined craftsmanship with an active radical politics. In England he had been a Chartist and an associate of Mazzini and other European emigres, and had written for several journals, including the Red Republican and the English Republic. He thereby became an influential example for a number of distinguished radical craftsmen of the later nineteenth century.
