ABSTRACT

The origin of the Thai education system can be traced back to the thirteenth century when Sukhothai was Thailand’s capital. The Office of the National Education Council (ONEC 1997; 1998; 1999) states that the developmental process can be discussed under four main periods: 1) traditional education; 2) foundation of formal education; 3) modernized education for national development; and 4) the new era of national education.
