ABSTRACT

One of the purposes of this book is to conceive the current global crisis as a unique ‘laboratory test’ for the critique of mainstream economic theory and policy. But what is to be understood as the mainstream? As Althusser (1967) observed, no critique can ever be commenced without tracing clear lines of demarcation between the parties involved in the controversy.
