ABSTRACT

Although there is a growing body of research about the problem of cyberbullying (see especially Chapter 2), there has been relatively little qualitative research highlighting youth’s own views of this emerging public health issue. As Mishna, Saini, and Solomon (2009:1222) have noted, qualitative research can assist in “discovering important discourses and nuances of cyberbullying that might be less visible in large scale studies.” This chapter provides an overview of youth’s perspectives on cyberbullying, drawing largely upon information gleaned from focus groups, individual interviews, and informal discussions with youth.
