The United Nations’ 2001 Year of Dialogue Among Civilizations witnessed the destruction of the Buddhas of Bamiyan and the Twin Towers. Manifestations of civilizations were hit by a trans-continental violence spread out by a ruling faction, the Taliban, and a nebulous organization, Al Qaeda.
