Where the Action Is

A decade ago among those urban American males who were little given to gentility the term “action” was used in a non-Parsonian sense in reference to situations of a special kind, the contrast being to situations where there was “no action.” Very recently this locution has been taken up by almost everyone, and the term itself ogged without mercy in commercials and advertisements.
