Data on the mother in the birth records enabled us to search for data on psychiatric care in the National Inpatient Reg ister from 1973 onward. We collected data on psychotic illness (codes 295-299 according to U de until 1986; codes 295-298 according to >Y U eg from 1987) in the mothers for the period from 1973 to 1995.
