ABSTRACT
When I first approached Randi Ettner with the idea of editing this muchneeded handbook of transgender medicine and surgery, she shuddered at the thought of such a daunting task. However, after initial hesitation, she took on the job with zeal. I am very grateful to Randi; her co-editors, Evan Eyler and Stan Monstrey; and all of the contributors for producing this outstanding work.
