ABSTRACT

In an age of global connectedness, the need for enabling increased awareness, tolerance, and cooperation skills is critical to a holistic higher education curriculum. Historically, undergraduate degree programs across the United States have offered students the opportunity to enroll in general education courses that expose them to multicultural and international issues. Beyond general education electives, a number of degree programs include multicultural and international topics as requirements for matriculation. Academic programs in family science typically include culture and gender courses and a growing number offer topics related to international issues and concerns.
