ABSTRACT
The purpose of creating an electronic portfolio to integrate multiculturism in teaching family economics includes:
• Introducing and developing technological skills in teaching and learning
• Creating a product that can be stored, modified, and reused for future educational purposes
• Creating an exercise that involves teamwork • Facilitating learning through utilization of interactive media and
sharing of knowledge between team members, classmates, and to a larger audience via the Internet
Objectives Upon completion of this learning activity, students will be able to:
• Create electronic portfolios • Learn and utilize technological skills that will be useful to them
in various ways • Learn to work in a team
• Build relationships, appreciate, and take advantage of one another’s assets to produce best results
• Effectively utilize the Internet to search and access information on economic aspects of families in other countries
• Distinguish what is authentic and reliable information on the Internet
• Select, organize, and present information to learn and inform others in class about families in countries that they have chosen to study
• Share electronic documents with other students via e-mail or by publishing them on the Web or via Blackboard.
