ABSTRACT

“I will never leave a fallen comrade” is the final of four commitments in the Combat Medic Field Reference, the bible of medical care for those responsible for it in combat: the combat medic. The purpose of this chapter is two-fold:

to provide a wake-up call for practitioners working with, or hoping to work with, combatants who may be either medics or corpsmen, as they are significantly different from other combatants;

to offer a proper orientation to working with and understanding these combatants and their families in order to bond with them and facilitate healing.
