ABSTRACT
Today’s China is experiencing two intertwined crises: a loss of cultural identity resulting from the nation being fused into the global market, and environmental and social problems that are the great cost of compressed growth and modernization. While the former has given rise to a spiritual crisis, the latter has produced a physical crisis.
