ABSTRACT

Even if we started with a child like Peter who was interested in diggers, and we introduced that into the pencil area and were drawing diggers and talking about roads and acting out little scenarios, making it into a social event, there would come a point in the morning when it was no longer appropriate to have conversations about diggers. Parents would expect to put a stop to it. It is hard knowing how much to allow and how much of the child’s interest to use when it becomes the sole topic.
