ABSTRACT

This case can be used in hotel and resort management programs, travel and tourism programs, studies of leisure and lifestyles, regular business management programs, and environmental studies programs at either the undergraduate or graduate level. The case is flexible and can be used to address different topics depending upon the previous experience and knowledge of the students and the objectives of the course. It has been used in an undergraduate program in tourism management to create an awareness of the some of the current programs that hotels have implemented to address their environmental responsibilities. In a graduate class with quite a different purpose, the case was used to study implementation of environmental management systems, their elements, and the characteristics necessary for their success.
