ABSTRACT

Our conference program’s segmentation into issues, challenges and solutions implies some agreement about how to engage “green issues” and proceed toward a “Green New Deal.” Whether we consider energy management, oceanic acidity, the fall in the water table or the end of the age of oil, our target is to find politically viable, socially acceptable and ecologically sustainable agricultural, industrial and social policies that cohere into an integrated way of being. Prince Charles’s 2009 Dimbleby Lecture reaffirms this. Hard though this project might be, it seems one around which we should surely all gather.
