ABSTRACT

Wildlife tourism is continuing to grow as an industry resulting in an increased number of different wildlife watching activities developing around the world in a wide and diverse range of ecosystems (Fennell 2008; Newsome, Dowling, and Moore 2005; Rodger, Moore, and Newsome 2007). Human–wildlife experiences provide opportunities for people to observe, photograph and interact with animals that may be endangered, threatened or rare, and are increasingly being offered in a number of destinations around the world (Ballantyne, Packer, and Hughes 2009; Newsome et al. 2005; Shackley 1996).
