ABSTRACT
When individual preferences are combined to reach collective decisions, how well are the individual preferences satisfied? What average level of satisfaction is achieved, and how equally or unequally is it distributed among individuals? The answer depends upon two factors—the structure of the original individual preferences, and the collective decision procedure used to combine them.
