ABSTRACT

Eva Illouz was born in Morocco and moved to France when she was ten. She went on to get a PhD in Communications at the Annenberg School of Communications at the University of Pennsylvania. Since 1991 she has lived in Israel, where she teaches at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She is the author of four books, Consuming the Romantic Utopia (University of California Press, 1997), The Culture of Capitalism (Israel University Broadcast), Oprah Winfrey and the Glamour of Misery (Columbia University Press, 2003), and Befuhle im Kapitalismus (Suhrkamp Verlag, forthcoming).
