ABSTRACT

In this chapter, we intend to explore the value of the rhythmic experience-with its bodily and aective components-in perceiving, elaborating, and expressing emotions. We will try to show how the rhythmic experience is basically relational and how it plays a fundamental role in creating an implicit and explicit dialogue between ourselves and our bodies as well as between us and other people. Furthermore, we will explore the way in which the cocreation of rhythm is an extremely important element for the cocreation of meaning, as well as-through the use of miming-a factor promoting an ability to better get to know and understand the complex implicit languages

of body movements and facial expressions to which contemporary psychoanalysis is assigning an increasing value.
