ABSTRACT

Rural Europe is the context for our focus on how different policies impact on economic development, environment and quality of life, but rural Europe is a diverse concept, in this case represented by the 11 different study regions used for the research. The study regions were selected according to the prima facie significance of present and likely future policies promoting multifunctionality of agriculture and the relationships between multiple functions and socio-economic development, quality of life and environment, as well as for their geographical characteristics and location within Europe.
