ABSTRACT
It is easy to contrast German and Japanese attitudes toward the atrocities their nations committed during World War II as if they were completely different, but that is both too simple and somewhat misleading. Nevertheless, as I hope to show, one must start with the observation that the dichotomy has considerable merit.
