ABSTRACT

Contemporary society is in a process of great change; people presently have access to a myriad of technologies, from small daily use objects to sophisticated computers and electronic gadgets. Information and communication technologies (ICTs) play an important role in this context. As pointed out by Kenski (1993) and Moraes (1997), they provide fast and easy access to information, allowing people to follow the changes of a world in permanent evolution. The infl uence of these resources on education cannot be ignored. Bringing these resources to the school environment is a way of enriching classroom activities, bringing them closer to the students’ reality and making them more meaningful for the students. It is imperative for teachers to incorporate the use of technologies in their classroom practice in order to create a learning environment adequate for the students’ needs.
