ABSTRACT
This dynamic anthology is a testament to the fact that progressive empirical, theoretical, and policy work on gender and crime is very much alive and well. The extant literature has mushroomed over the past four decades and this handbook brings together in-depth reviews of contemporary, international work on gender and crime for researchers, students, practitioners, and policy makers. The contributors offer multiple perspectives on how gender shapes various types of crime and social control. Further, contributors discuss both qualitative and quantitative work. This is all to the good because we obtain a more sophisticated understanding of social problems by engaging with numerous feminist approaches.
