ABSTRACT
The terrorist attacks of 9/11/2001 were not only a shock to most Americans, they were incomprehensible. The news media and even national leaders did little to help us understand why the attacks took place. In a speech to congress on September 20 President Bush said,
They hate … a democratically elected government … They hate our freedoms – our freedom of religion, our freedom of speech, our freedom to vote and assemble and disagree with each other.
