Miscue analysis is at the cornerstone of reclaiming the teaching of reading. Among the first questions many teachers ask as they use miscue analysis to learn about the reading process are: Will all this hard work pay off? Will I learn something that can help my students become better readers? Regular users of miscue analysis have a ready answer: Miscue analysis can inform and guide your teaching as no other evaluation procedure can. The implications for individual and group instruction are numerous.
