ABSTRACT
Murray Bowen saw human behavior as a part of evolution, governed by natural forces that are evident in other biological systems. He recognized the value of looking at animal social systems to gain insights into the functioning of human families. This chapter follows that tradition by exploring triadic relationships in nonhuman primate families, with specific examples from vervet monkeys.
