ABSTRACT

Carol B. Brandt is a postdoctoral researcher at the Center for Informal Learning and Schools at the University of California, Santa Cruz. She received her Ph.D. in Educational Thought & Sociocultural Studies at the University of New Mexico. Her dissertation research focused on school science identities and scientific discourse among Native American women in higher education. Prior to her research in higher education, Carol was an archaeologist and ethnobotanist for the Pueblo of Zuni Cultural Resources Program. Carol’s long-term interests bring together crosscutting studies that link language, geography, and anthropology to bring more democratic practices of engaging in science.
