ABSTRACT
Haak 2005). This work has been criticized as reckless anthropology and as an outsider’s
indulgent aesthetic project, but it is part of a traceable trajectory of field work, which
this volume argues is a practice of Architecture requiring critical attention. In the Lagos/
Koolhaas project, the work is most visibly manifest as a film about the city and its
inhabitants, a filmed documentary of the process of research and filming, and a
process of architectural research-education. What is the knowing that Koolhaas sug-
gests is elusive if it is overdone? Knowing how to make architecture or urbanism?
