ABSTRACT

The recent financial crisis has brought China great pressure on employment, and saving jobs has become an essential common responsibility for the state and business enterprises. Enterprises are expected to enhance their sense of responsibility as ‘corporate citizens,’ fully playing a critical role in saving jobs; whereas the government assumes the main responsibility for saving jobs, helping enterprises to practice their social responsibility with all measures. The government has encouraged enterprises to reduce invisible losses of layoffs, to promote harmonious labor relations, to enhance corporate public images, to accumulate social capital, as well as to explore market spaces and grasp development opportunities.
