ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the idea of product-service innovation in relation to procuring complex performance (PCP) as a process of supply chain regeneration. The dynamics resulting from juxtaposing complex and routine procurement tasks requires an approach to managing innovation based increasingly on co-evolution among multiple stakeholders. While the idea of collaborating with customers and suppliers is not new, using new methods of innovation to boost service-based performance is of considerable interest. A conceptual model and three cases are used here to guide the analysis of why product-service innovation is important for PCP.
