Forests versus jungles – what is the difference? Are all jungles tropical? Are they always violent? How do forests or jungles relate to expressions of state power? And what do violent jungle landscapes of the past tell us about “scientifically” managed forests, forested nature reserves, and “conflict timbers” of the present?
