ABSTRACT

My first subject is the broad nature of change in alternative energy production and use during the ten-year period from the time of the first oil crisis until 1983, as summarised in Table 12.1.

In major industrialised nations there was a decrease (from 1973 to 1983) in petroleum consumption, while consumption of other forms of energy increased. This was experienced in all the industrialised nations.
