ABSTRACT

In this chapter, we outline how partnership fi ts into the organizational and stakeholder relationships within the fi eld of social development, and thereby frame what a “partnership approach” may look like. We illustrate the complexities of a partnership approach with case studies from our own practice experience and research (in various parts of the world, but principally in Australia and Uganda) and conclude with some of the core challenges of partnerships that could contribute to a more complex understanding of the role and nature of partnership in social development.
