The construction industry plays an important role in economic growth and socio-economic development. The performance of the industry must be improved if it is to be able to fulfil the expectations of the governments and people in developing countries for enhanced economic prospects and improved quality of life. The companion volume to this book (Construction in Developing Countries: New Perspectives) discusses important aspects of the construction industries in the developing countries in the present.
