ABSTRACT

Ths small church n Klppan s the work of a man n hs late seventes who had been workng as an archtect for over fifty years. Sgurd Lewerentz never explaned hs work n words. It s left to speak for tself. St Peter’s does not look lke a church. It s ntense, apparently saturated wth meanng but open to a varety of nterpretatons. It s the archtectural equvalent of one of Beethoven’s late strng quartets; complex n ts avodance of orthodox, clear, resolved form; affectng n ts dramatc and shftng effects on the emotons.
