Ths s not a cutaway drawng. It s of a house wth two floors, one wall (nstead of the usual four) and no roof, though the floor of the upper room acts as a roof to the lower, or vice versa. The two rooms of La Casa del Ojo de Agua (‘house of the waterhole’, whch I thnk s the equvalent n Spansh of a ‘bolthole’ or ‘weekend house’) were desgned as a bedroom and a dnng room. The other spaces of the house – ktchen etc. – are accommodated n a separate buldng

Although t wll be seen to be remnscent of a partcular hstorc precedent apt to Mexco, ts form s a composton of basc elements of archtecture composed accordng to context and content. Rather than accept the orthodox

element accordng to what t does and whether or not t s actually needed. The elements of an orthodox house that are absent from ths desgn have been omtted for partcular reasons that make the house a more nterestng place to be.
