Muscans wrte études (studes) to explore what s possble wthn a partcular form or set of muscal parameters. John Pawson and Claudo Slvestrn’s house on the sland of Mallorca s an archtectural étude. The possbltes t explores are those of the wall. Usng lttle more than ths most basc of basc archtectural elements, the archtecture of the Neuendorf House takes the person through a seres of experences. The house has an ntroducton – a slow drawn-out crescendo. It has a moment of transton – an nstant when mountng antcpaton s replaced wth trepdaton, a change of key.
