ABSTRACT

Introduction Throughout his distinguished career, Professor Tarditi was a staunch defender of consumer interests. In this chapter we have therefore chosen to focus on consumer interests and how they are related to the political economy of European agricultural and food policies. The chapter draws on some of our previous research (with various co-authors), and we refer to various papers for more details and more extensive analyses on some of the issues discussed here – see also the reference list.
