Defence spending and procurement in post-Communist Russia

The Russian Federation is one of the world’s largest arms exporters. According to official figures, this amounted to between US$5 billion–$7 billion a year in 2000s. Unlike the majority of other arms exporters, Russia imports very little and relies almost entirely on domestic production to supply its armed forces.
