ABSTRACT
Introduction It could be claimed that sexuality remains a significant factor in many young people’s exclusion from sport. However, although much has been written on socially constructed definitions of sexuality and its distinction from gender, within the fields of sport and physical education there has been relatively little discussion with most focusing on adults in gay sports, elite sport and physical education (Anderson, 2005; Brackenridge, 2001; Cahn, 1994; Caudwell, 2003, 2006; Clarke, 1998; Griffin, 1998; Pronger, 1990, 2000).
