ABSTRACT
The area of dance is a latecomer to literacy. The problem of devising a system of notation, which incorporates the three-dimensional aspect of movement, concurrently with the progression of time, seemed to be insurmountable over centuries. The most common way was to describe dances verbally. However, any verbal description cannot convey the content of movement. It is a very different idiom from the spoken language.
