ABSTRACT
Introduction China is the largest developing country in the world, so the question of when it will ratify the UN’s ICCPR has become a hot issue both in and out of the country. What does this Covenant mean for Chinese efforts on gender equality? This chapter will analyse the relation between human rights promotion, especially access to and implementation of the ICCPR, and the realization of gender equality in China.
