ABSTRACT
This chapter outlines a strategy for facilitating professional development in public schools by relating the narrative of the events that occurred during summer 2007 and 2008 in rural West Virginia. The professional development initiative provided implementation sessions for 60 administrators and 500 teachers of a rural school district in northern West Virginia. The chapter describes the formation of the collaborative relationship; explains the particular approaches used in the professional development; and discusses fi ndings and conclusions.
