ABSTRACT

The Academy for Urban School Leadership (AUSL), an educational management organization, was founded in 2001 with the specifi c goal of impacting urban education in Chicago by recruiting, preparing, and providing induction support for a new generation of socially motivated urban educators. To fulfi ll this goal, AUSL forged partnerships with National-Louis University (NLU) and Chicago Public Schools (CPS) to form the county’s fi rst Urban Teacher Residency (UTR) program. By spearheading this interagency collaboration, AUSL brokers the continuum between preservice preparation and urban school renewal.
